Creación del periódico comunitario "Nuestra Calle" en el sector del colegio "Manuel J. Calle", parroquia El Vecino, ubicado al noroeste de Cuenca
Abstract:
This project involves the creation of a community newspaper for the neighborhood of ElVecino located in the area of the high school Manuel J.Calle in the city of Cuenca. The newspaper will serve as an educative tool to consolidate a system of communication that will point out \the intervention of daily conflicts, making its centre focus the improvement of public safety. A main component about this process is the participation in the development of the community and the elaboration of the contents, formulating its needs, and making suggestions to help the integration of the neighborhood due to the close relationship between neighbors. This is achieved unlike the mass and commercial media in which the citizens receive and setting daily imposed by the media editorial line. For this Nelson Cardoso and Mario Kaplun’s community communication theories, allowed to approach the target .In addition to the newspaper’s first-rate articles, writing, photography , design and layout found in the two already printed publications, a digital version of the newspaper has been created and will be found on the internet’s social networking forums. Considering the costly aspects of printed publications, publishing the community newspaper NuestraCalle’s informative content online, will allow it to overcome the lack of resources needed for its printed copies. Subsequently, it could be extended for the whole urban parish –El Vecino. Thanks to newspaper’s online content, amongst the fact that its cost free to publish it online, the advantage consists of direct and immediate interaction with the population. This involvement of the population also becomes the basis for discussion and feedback of subsequent informative topics, without forgetting what Pena de Oliveira highlights on remote communities that do not yet have Internet access.
