Abstract:

Media credibility continues to be a relevant issue in the country. Various audiences make decisions and guide their actions from informing themselves through social networks on matters of local interest on an indicator. Thus, the work analyzes several concepts of credibility and journalistic ethics provided from the Organic Law Communication (LOC-2013) to make the positions in favor and contrary. In this sense, this study aims to demonstrate the credibility and integrity that journalism in Loja has (Ecuador), analyzing the professional practice of eight journalists who participate in the case study. The collected data based on an applied survey to twenty-four face-to-face students and twenty teachers of the Communication career of the UTPL. In addition, eight interviews were carried out with journalists from Loja to contrast both parts of the investigation and conclude with positive or negative aspects of the journalistic exercise. The results indicate that journalism in Loja still generates uncertainty and uneasiness about our citizens’ credibility, compared to the credibility that our journalists practice.
