Abstract:

Based on a historical approach to the Theater in Guayaquil, this work categorizes the Ecuadorian group Teatro Ensayo Gestus within a cartographic outline of the scenic movement of Guayaquil. Analyzing the representativeness of the group based on its activity, organization, career, the poetics of its productions and the critical view of national and international managers and artists from 1988 to 2015, the present investigation shows that the Group has contributed to the Ecuadorian theater movement a space that has allowed them to develop capacities in the theater, not only for the desire to create plays, but from their daily work opened the possibility of obtaining a group and individual development that has offered different expectations and has contributed to the cultural growth in Guayaquil. It shows that the work of Gestus stand up an educational theater, progressive and professional, has provided a growth to the viewer, new alternatives that through the scene have been translated into new perspectives of their knowledge, producing a social change from an individual change and has route in their projects the need to reach a mass of adult and children, who has little or no access to theater, with plays of content, direct language and quality in the perform.
