ATP/EMTP simulation of a controlled three-phase rectifier with PWM for power factor improvement and harmonic reduction.
Abstract:
AC harmonic currents generated by some converters may cause power quality distortion. To solve this problem, a controlled power rectifier with PWM can be used. In this paper the ATP/EMTP program is used to simulate a controlled converter with its control strategies. To verify the stability of the bridge the following tests are performed: nonunity power factor, lost of one phase, and step power response. Spectrum frequency analyses and waveforms are shown for the strategies. The tests show that it is possible to simulate the converter along with its control and modulation circuits.
