DENTAL PERIODONTITIS IN ADOLESCENTS, THE IMPORTANCE OF AN EARLY DIAGNOSIS

Abstract:

The importance of the evaluation lies in knowing how susceptible adolescents are to periodontal disease, how they are handling the subject of oral hygiene, how much they know about gingivitis and periodontitis. The research work addresses periodontal disease, which occurs in the tissue that surrounds and supports the teeth. In this way we proceed to provide information about all the issues that have to do with periodontal disease. A study was carried out with 60 adolescent students ranging in age from 14 to 16 years. The variables studied were: symptoms of possible periodontal disease, oral hygiene in general and its frequency. Among the adolescents evaluated, 73% showed good oral hygiene, but the risk of contracting the disease is still present, as 43% indicated that they do not use dental floss, which increases the risk of periodontal disease.
