Decision Model for QoS in Networking Based on Hierarchical Aggregation of Information

Abstract:

One of the main objectives for Quality of Service (QoS) processes in computer networks is to establish the priority of the network services used within an organization in a given situation. Given the anticipation of a new scenario, an evaluation group must make an assessment in order to establish the set of network service priorities according to their level of importance for the new scenario. The process of assigning priorities to network services generally involves subjectivity and uncertainty, so the use of linguistic labels is appropriate for their assessment. A group of aggregation operators have been proposed in the literature. The existing models don’t provide enough flexibility and adaptability to the specific contexts of the organizations. This paper proposes a decision-making method that makes use of the aggregation operators in a hierarchical way using the model of the 2-linguistic tuples to prioritize services. The proposal allows the inclusion of aspects such as the criteria importance and simultaneity. A case study shows the applicability of the proposal. The article ends with proposals for future work that contribute to the increase of the applicability of the method.
