In the midst of a global context of climate change originated by a capitalist society that has no respect for nature and that overexploits its resources, there are indigenous peoples that offer sustainable alternatives, since from their worldview they have generated a deep respect for nature and life, so they care to protect and preserve it. Based on this concern, a mechanism for the protection of water sources has been developed, which has legality recognized from the State and was developed by the indigenous communities of the north of the province of Pichincha in Ecuador, these communities belong to the Kayambi People and propose the Declaration of Water Protection, which is the subject of interest of the present work of systematization of experiences.
