About prefrontal symptoms and addictions in daily life
Abstract:
This research presents a theoretical review on Prefrontal Symptoms and addictions and their relationship. This symptomatology affects three spheres of human activity: emotions, behavior and cognitive functions; When any of these areas is affected, the way of living changes in a negative sense. Substance abuse produces a serious neuropsychological damage through different mechanisms of action, can cause morphological changes and harmful influence through the organization of the synaptic connection circuits that are caused by abstinence, tolerance and detoxification, thus producing new adaptations of biochemical type in the projection systems of neurotransmitters. There is a line of research developed based on the presence of prefrontal symptoms in addicts and that these play a fundamental role in the initiation and maintenance of addiction. Studies show that subjects with brain disorders have the ability to perform normally in traditional neurological measures; However, their behavior in natural environments is noticeably altered, which sometimes produces a serious deficit in occupational and social functioning, becoming this indicator, an element of vital importance for the development of future research.
