Academic data visualization: A review of the current status in the university context.

Abstract:

Data visualization plays an important role in Higher Education Institutions (HEI), it allows to convert data into images and give a context to the information, to be understood and make the right decisions in a short time. There are several research on data visualization for large companies but regarding HEIs there are only studies that mention how it is used in preset models and not one that is ideally suited. This paper performs a systematic literature review on data visualization in HEIs, 5 key steps are used to identify the current situation of the subject, in related works, and a case study with an Ecuadorian HEI is also shown. It can be affirmed that there is a great need for research on data visualization in HEIs, so that they can relate and develop appropriate decisions benefiting HEIs.
