Academic stress and coping in medicine students of universidad técnica de ambato


Abstract:

Academic Stress is one risk factor from student’s health and their quality life. The university studies can to produce academic stress on medical students. The research objective was to determine the relation between academic stress and coping used by medical students from the Technical University of Ambato in Ecuador. A cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational study was carried out from October 2016 to March, 2017. The universe was the second-year medical students and sample of 81. We used the SISCO and the ACS. Where was the alternative hypothesis for what the academic stress is related to coping? In addition, it was concluded that the academic stressors that most affected were the academic overload, maintain good aver-age, the responsibility to meet the academic de-mands and the realization of a comprehensive re-view. Physiological symptoms were found as di-gestion problems, sleep problems. In the psycho-logical reactions showed anxiety, anguish, and the sensation of the blank mind and behavioral motivation for school activities and conflicts. The strategies used were strive and succeed, physical distractions, which shows a predominance of style aimed at the resolution of the problem, by allowing them to take the students to focus on problem-solving strategies to reduce the effect of academic stress.
