Design and construction of an automatic system of ferroelectric ceramics polarization

Abstract:

This work shows the design and construction of an automatic polarizer for ferroelectric ceramics, guaranteeing security and user-friendliness during the whole process. The polarizer is composed of a DC high voltage supply and a heating system. The high voltage supply has been designed using a Buck topology voltage reducing circuit, a DC/AC converter, a high frequency transformer, which provides galvanic isolation, and a voltage multiplier stage. The heating system is fed through a direct phase control circuit and the process temperature is regulated by of an integral proportional controller (PI). As a result of the correct functioning of the prototype, measurements are obtained of the piezoelectric constant charge d33 of a sample of K0.5Na0.5NbO3 (92.7 and -95.5) within the range specified in the literature for this compound.
