Design and implementation of a splint for people with injuries in the wrist and radial nerve: Analysis from an integral and innovative perspective
Abstract:
Professionals in the area of physiotherapy offer their rehabilitation services (wrist and radial nerve), through manual procedures such as therapies. A rehabilitation system called Therapycenter has been proposed designing an automatic splint applying physiotherapy techniques. This system presents control, monitoring and electrostimulation to people who present radial nerve injuries. The splint allows the rehabilitation of movements such as: from the bottom up and from left to right of the wrist and hand, with the help of two servo motors controlled from Matlab. The total rehabilitation of the radial nerve was done with an electrostimulator that works at a frequency of (18 and 83) Hz, with a triangular pulse train and an intensity of 7mA, adopted in the patient’s forearm by two electrodes and activated by a sensor flex Experimental results show a recovery in patients of up to 96,68%.
