Design and simulation of a fuzzy controller for Vertical Take off and Landing (VTOL) systems


Abstract:

In this paper, the results of the simulation of a fuzzy controller applied to a Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) are presented. For this design, the ground aerodynamic effect is considered to stablish the member functions and the linguistic rules for the fuzzy system. A direct fuzzy controller with an integrator stage structure is proposed in order to enhance the error in steady-state and obtain a good stabilization. Some control surfaces haven been generated to visualize the effects of the controller according to working zones in which the VTOL is located. The simulation results show this controller stabilizes the VTOL system by obtaining a soft landing and reducing vertigo.
