Detecting and tracking of drones with Static Surveillance Cameras for Strategic Sites


Abstract:

The increase in the flight of drones in certain areas, without knowing the objective of the flight, motivates the development of a prototype for the detection, tracking and identification of drones, through original equipment manufacturer (OEM, English Original Equipment Manufacturer) using video cameras for detection. With the aim of increasing the response capacity of security and public surveillance, the aim is to develop a system capable of adapting to existing equipment, such as static video surveillance cameras, another important element is to consider that the development has a reduced cost so that can be massively deployed in military and government installations. With that in mind, this research presents a prototype based on OpenCV, capable of detecting drones at more than 90 meters away.
