Detection of hibiscus latent Fort Pierce virus in hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) and in a water source in Ecuador
Abstract:
Hibiscus latent Fort Pierce virus (HLFPV) is a member of the genus Tobamovirus (family Virgaviridae) and a common virus infecting members of the family Malvaceae. This research presents the first report of HLFPV detection in hibiscus plants with viral symptoms and the use of high throughput sequencing (HTS) to detect this virus in a water source in Ecuador. The near complete genome (99.41%) of HLFPV was assembled.
