Determinación de las características del fardo de paja de trigo, como desecho agroindustrial para su aprovechamiento como material de construcción
Abstract:
The objective of this research is to determine the physical-mechanical characteristics of the straw bales produced in Ecuador, in order to define their possible use in the construction of earthquake-resistant housing. For this purpose, experimental methods proposed by Vardy (2006) were used on the bales varying their position for flat and edge load tests. Thus obtaining the modulus of elasticity of the bundle bare and plastered on their faces, with a mortar based on lime cement and natural fibers previously designed. It was determined that the maximum modulus of elasticity of the plastered bundle varies between 12, 98 and 18, 67 MPa. These values were used to perform the structural modeling of a typical house through the use of a software to propose a housing solution that promotes the use of the straw bale produced in Ecuador for the construction of earthquake-resistant housing. From the analysis of this model, it is concluded that the maximum inelastic drifts of the proposed structure, with supporting masonry made with the straw bales, are less than 2%, with a rendering of thickness between 2 and 4 cm, concluding that the structural responses obtained comply with what is established for seismic-resistant housing in the Ecuadorian Construction Standard.
