Determinación del riesgo de trastornos musculoesqueléticos mediante el método REBA en trabajadores de Indurama. Cuenca, 2016

Abstract:

Background: There is a fundamental need to carry out an ergonomic study in the occupational health area, since this study allows the identification of multiple factors that have a direct impact on productivity and economy. General objective: To determine the risk for musculoskeletal disorders by using the REBA method in workers of Indurama S.A. Cuenca, 2016. Methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, prospective study was carried out. There were evaluated 131 workers from the metal-mechanic area of Indurama. The data gathering procedures were: the administration of an evaluation sheet that contained information about age, working years, fat mass index, and type of work. Subsequently, the REBA method was applied in order to determine the level of risk for musculoskeletal disorders. Results: the 58,8% of the male population that were evaluated had a medium level of risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders, the 23,7% had a low level of risk and the 17,6% had a high level of risk. The population was mainly at a medium level of risk and thus the age ranges from 20 to 39 years represented the 57,8%. Moreover, 57,6% were those who have worked for 1 to 8 years; and the 59,8% were those who had a high acceptable fat mass index. Furthermore, higher pressing was the type of work that had an increased medium level of risk, which represented the 72,4%. Relating age, working years, fat mass index with REBA, found no significative importance statistics (P˃0,05), a difference with the type of work that if there was the relationship (P<0,05). Conclusion: the REBA method determined a medium level of risk for the company. This is guideline for implementing corrective and/or preventive measures in the work places
