Determinar el conocimiento sobre la infección de transmisión sexual por el virus de papiloma humano y su vacuna en las/los estudiantes de la Escuela de Enfermería de la Universidad de Cuenca, 2014
Abstract:
BACKGROUND: Infection with Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted disease. Currently, it is estimated that approximately 630 million people worldwide may be infected with HPV. Globally, between 50% and 80% of sexually active women are infected with HPV. OBJECTIVE: To determine the knowledge possessed by the students of Nursing School College of sexually transmitted infection by the human papilloma virus and vaccine. Cuenca 2014. METHODS: A descriptive study was conducted, the universe consisted of 936 students from Nursing School of Universidad de Cuenca and the sample was 272 students from different university cycles, the selection was random, research techniques employed were interview, observation; the instrument that was used was a test. The results were analyzed in simple contingency tables using Word programs, Excel and SPSS version 21. RESULTS: With this research, the following results that we obtained were knowledge possessed by the students about HPV: 93.4% of students correctly defines Human papillomavirus, 94.5% know the route of transmission is sexual activities, 88.2% knows that prevention is using condoms, 74.6% knew HPV vaccine, 51.1% know that the administration of the vaccine in the right age, 39% know the importance of administering the HPV vaccine and 33.8% know the vaccination of HPV. CONCLUSIONS: At the end of our study we can conclude that the knowledge of students of HPV are regular, because they don’t have the correct knowledge of it; so it is an issue that is not frequently aboard and there is no self-education by student
