Determination of the elastic constants using moire

Abstract:

In this study, an attempt is made to show the possibility of obtaining elastic constants by an optical technique. It is shown how the description of the displacement field in a bi-axially-loaded infinite plate with a hole, combined with moire experimental measurements, yields values of the elastic constants for a specified material.
