Determining the behavior of RuO<inf>x</inf> nanoparticles in mixed-metal oxides: Structural and catalytic properties of RuO<inf>2</inf>/TiO <inf>2</inf>(110) surfaces

Abstract:

Hot off the wire: Scanning tunneling microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and density functional calculations were used to study the interaction of RuO2 nanostructures with TiO2(110). Ruthenium oxide forms unique Ru3O6 wire-like structures on TiO2 that can be easily reduced and re-oxidized at temperatures in the range of 400-600 K, and it has a very high catalytic activity for the low-temperature oxidation of CO. © 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
