Development of an Industrial Communication Driver for Ethernet/IP Devices
Abstract:
Supervisory Control Systems implemented in industry applications requires communication drivers to acquire information from field devices because that work with different industrial protocols such as Modbus, CIP, Profinet, etc. But even though commercial communication drivers are available, they usually require a high investment. As a result, industries that have low purchasing power such as small and medium enterprises cannot access the benefits provided by supervisory systems. In this regard, this technical paper presents the design and development of an industrial data server for CIP - Ethernet/IP devices. The proposed development is based on free software in order to reduce its purchase cost, using different libraries to developt the program. As a result, a functional software for the exchange of information between field devices and HMI is obtained. The software operation is tested by emulating a chocolate process, where it is required to read or send information between PLCs and HMIs.
