Development of simulation program for liquid effluent treatment
Abstract:
The objective of this research was to develop a software for the simulation of wastewater treatment processes. The software developed, named SIMTELUC, uses a modular and sequential approach for the management and control of the information flow during the process simulation. The following simulation units were developed: activated sludge reactor, trickling biofilters, rotary biological contactors, sedimentation basins, coagulation-flocculation basins, thermal dryer, chlorination units, activated carbon adsorption, chemical precipitation, sludge composting, filters, dissolved air flotation (DAF) and API units. These units were validated, comparing their results with those obtained with a commercial simulation program, obtaining a deviation of less than 4%. It was concluded from the results obtained that the program developed meets the proposed objectives and gives good results, and can be extended to the simulation of existing industrial treatment plants.
