Diagnosis of biosafety protocols for dental care in the setting of SARS pandemic CoV2

Abstract:

Due to the presence of a new strain of coronavirus called SARS-CoV2 by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses, which alarmed the population worldwide, the health profession has had to adopt norms established by national and international organizations to continue with the safe practice of the profession, and thus, modifications and adjustments have been made to the biosecurity protocols in dental offices. An analysis of the application of these protocols in dental care was carried out by means of a survey. This work addresses aspects such as disinfection in the reception area and work environment, on-site triage, hand washing, personal protective equipment, facial and airway protection against aerosols, among other issues related to patient and professional care. The results show the importance of emphasizing and updating on various topics of disinfection and asepsis before, during and after care, in order to eliminate all types of microorganisms that pose a risk to the health of the patient and dentist. It is also essential to train the professional on the adequate protection of the airways, thus reducing the risk of contagion of SARSCov2 and other diseases.
