Diagnosis of social communication: A dimension of the vulnerability of Ecuador's risk management system

Abstract:

Risk management is now a priority for governments and companies, and to achieve this, communication is an essential factor. This work corresponds to the institutional diagnosis of the National Decentralized System of Risk Management and the Cantonal Risk Management Committee of Guayaquil. It was the result of a research carried out from 2014 to 2017, using instruments such as LAG SAT, for the qualification of resilient cities within the International Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction (ERID), with particular emphasis on communication for risk management and others as in-depth interviews and focus groups. The conclusions and recommendations aim to strengthen Social Communication as a multi-actor instrument for risk management.
