Differences of five variables in 100m female athletes in two levels of sports performance

Abstract:

Introduction: The race technique analysis in 100 meters from the biomechanical point of view, serves to anatomical and anthropometric magnitudes standardize of the organism during the execution of the race technical gesture, while allowing to delimit variables of significant incidence in sports performance, useful variables in processes such as search and sports selection. Objective: to determine the differences in five variables of sports performance among high performance and average performance runners in Ecuador during the technical gesture execution of the 100-meter flat race, female. Method: 10 athletes belonging to Concentración Deportiva de Pichincha were studied, dividing them into independent groups by significant levels of sports performance (p = 0.033), studying five biomechanical and anthropometric variables (Brand, Height, Stride Angle, Exit Angle and Arms Angle) to establish inferences needed for decision making related to the search and sports selection. Results: A negative linear regression was determined between the variables "Best Brand" and "Stature" (-, 381), although it was not significant (r = 0.277). On the other hand, no significant difference was established between the best athlete (No: 1) and the rest of the athletes in the variables Stride Angle, Exit Angle and Arms Angle respectively (p = 0.200), but they were established Significant differences when comparing the groups by performance levels (Level 1: High Performance and Level 2: Medium Performance) in the three mentioned angles. Conclusion: The biomechanical components represented by the study angles, are useful factors for the sports performance study in short distance corridors, contributing to energy expenditure optimization and the displacement speed, therefore, they are factors to take into account in the search and sports selection process.
