Different Biomass Gasification Reactors for Energy Applications

Abstract:

There are many processes that are used to convert biomass to various forms of energy, but to determine the optimal process depends on many factors such as the amount of biomass raw materials, the type of energy required, the environmental and economic factors and criteria for the project. One of the most common processes currently used is the gasification process. Gasification is commercially viable and provides increased overall conversion efficiency of the producer gas. This paper discusses the different gasification techniques and presents a comprehensive comparison among them to determine the most important factors to consider when choosing one of these techniques to design combined power and heat plant.
