Diluentes used in swine artificial insemination

Abstract:

The objective is to provide detailed information on the characteristics that the short and long term diluents used for the preservation of boar semen have to meet, for this I have reviewed and synthesized some of the most recent researches, where different techniques and processes that the diluents have to meet to allow the preservation of pig seminal material for longer time, without causing damage to its structure and without decreasing its fertilizing capacity are reported. Most researchers agree that a diluent should ensure the preservation of sperm without any complications, optimizing the results of fertility, prolificacy and genetic quality in the swine industry worldwide.
