Direct control of active and reactive power using space vectors
Abstract:
This paper compares two space vector techniques that can be used to regulate the instantaneous active and reactive power flow in a Power System. The first method uses the Direct Torque Control (DTC), employed frequently on speed regulation of the AC machines. The second one proposed by authors, uses the optimization of the space vector voltage in a controller bridge to reduce the least square error by controlling the instantaneous active and reactive power. These control methods have several advantages and disadvantages and are combined to improve the static and dynamic Direct Power Control (DPC) performance. The new proposed control system is no affected by harmonic distortion in the network and the obtained regulation of active and reactive power flow is practically instantaneous (< 10ì s) as is shown by performed simulations.
