Discovering Visual Deficiencies in Pilots Candidates Using Data Mining

Abstract:

Organizations are applying data mining and knowledge discovery techniques, so they must integrate and transform their data for analytical processing. The decision making is a process that can be carried out with the support of data mining techniques. Discover patterns and characteristics related to visual deficiencies in pilot candidates can contribute to aviation safety processes. This work presents the design of a technological tool to the selection process of pilots candidates in aviation schools. This includes modules to facilitate the registration of the participants’ data; the integration of the results obtained from traditional and technological visual tests; and the data analysis module. To discover visual deficiencies in pilot candidates, the collected data was integrated and analysed using data mining. To validate the prototype, we applied the protocol established in the project. The results of the analysis were satisfactory for the team of specialists due to the confidence margin obtained. These preliminary results allow us to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed technological tool and to continue with its development.
