Discrete modified planar luneburg lens antenna
Abstract:
This paper discusses a discrete realization of a planar Luneburg lens including the modification of the original Luneburg variation of the refractive index profile in order to locate all feed loci on a straight line. A lens prototype operating at 5 GHz, using 2047 unit cells, is built and measured. Feeding the antenna at different cells of the feed line, off-axis beam steering to up to 60° is demonstrated experimentally.
