9 UNIVERSIDAD DE GUAYAQUIL FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS MATEMÁTICAS Y FÍSICAS CARRERA DE INGENIERÍA EN NETWORKING Y TELECOMUNICACIONES DESIGN OF A RADIOSONDE SYSTEM WITH REMOTE MANAGEMENT CAPABILITY FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY OF THE GENERAL MANAGEMENT OF CIVIL AVIATION IN THE CITY FROM GUAYAQUIL Abstract This project describes the design and implementation of a radiosonde station prototype using a software-defined radio, which together with other hardware components and interpretation software, allows the reception and processing in real time of meteorological data collected by the Vaisala RS92 radiosonde -SGP. The signals are received by an antenna built to work on the frequency (403 Mhz) used by the Vaisala RS92-SGP radiosondes for data telemetry. It was also decided to use a device that works as LNA and SAW Filter simultaneously, which helps to improve the signal received by the SDR. The heart of the radiosonde station is software-defined radio, which allows low cost to receive, demodulate, and process telemetry signals from radiosondes. Regarding the software, we use SDRSharp free program for the configuration and administration of radios defined by software. SDRSharp also makes it possible, thanks to its client and server modules, that the SDR can be configured and managed remotely, allowing technical personnel to receive data in real time from anywhere without requiring close proximity to the equipment, providing operational flexibility. The other application used is SondeMonitor, which receives the SDRSharp data and interprets them by generating reports with information on the upper atmosphere meteorological variables, vital for determining flight conditions. With the implementation of this radiosonde station, the Meteorology department of the Air Navigation Service in the city of Guayaquil will have a low-cost solution, compared to proprietary hardware solutions, and flexible operation, which will enable you to receive on time real information of the meteorological variables of the upper atmosphere and thus be able to determine safe flight conditions for aircraft
