Diseño de una nueva suspensión farmacéutica utilizando microemulsiones como vehículo para la incorporación de ibuprofeno
Abstract:
Ibuprofen is the indicated for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. This drug has a lot of limitations such as low capacity of solubility in water which is a consequence a reduced bioavailability. Microemulsións are new extended release systems. They can improve the physical and chemical limitations of drugs. The objective of this document was to design and develop a pharmaceutical suspension using microemulsións as a vehicle for the incorporation of ibuprofen. A phase diagram was made in order to identify the microemulsións’ region, the ibuprofen concentration that was incorporated into the matrix was evaluated. The systems were characterized by a polarized light microscope, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), self-emulsification study, visual stability study and by potential of hydrogen (pH). The release profile of the ibuprofen in the microemulsión suspension was analyzed. The results show a transparent, homogenous and fluid system, these characteristics were stable during six months, which suggests a stability in the microemulsións. A dark field was detected in the polarized light microscope. The microemulsións formation was confirmed by the self-emulsification that was presented by a slightly blue coloration. An amount of 250 mg of ibuprofen was incorporated in the system. The potential of hydrogen (pH) was acid throughout the time for all the systems, with and without the drug. The thermic analysis showed an interaction of the ibuprofen with the microemulsións, it couldn´t be observed the highest point of fusion of the drug. The best released profile was observed in the suspension with microemulsións. The microemulsións are a very promising systems in the development of suspensions for the incorporation of ibuprofen.
