Objective: To determine the local complications prevalence of acute cholecystitis and its bacteriological association in cholecystectomized patients from the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Methodology: a descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional study was conducted in 149 patients with acute cholecystitis who underwent cholecystectomy during the period June 2010 to May 2011, the data were obtained through a complete clinical history and a microbiological analysis was performed, bile for bacterial identification. Results: Of the 149 patients, 75.8% (n=113) were female, the main proportion of subjects was <40 years, the lithiasic etiology was present in 94.6% and 63.1% was operated on 72 hours after the onset of symptoms. Conclusions: Acute cholecystitis is a high frequency pathology in the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, with an important percentage of complications, the emphysematous cholecystitis and the pyocolecisto being the main ones evidenced.
