Acute generalized exanthomatous pustulosis. Three cases

Abstract:

Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is an aseptic pustular eruption characterized by an acute onset after an infection and/or drug ingestion, and spontaneous healing after a single attack. We report herein three new cases of AGEP caused by drug ingestion: hypolypaemiants (fibrates), antibiotics and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agents. In the histopathology a predominantly neutrophilic infiltrate involved the epidermis, dermis and also the hypodermis with different levels of edema. The pustules could be either intracorneal, subcorneal or follicular. Although initially associated to pustular psoriasis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis is characteristically an acute and autolimited condition.
