Adaptation and validation for the Ecuadorian context of the multidimensional perfectionism scale (MPS)

Abstract:

The objective of the present study was to adapt, study the factorial structure and reliability in the Ecuadorian population of the Multidimensional Scale of Perfectionism (MPS). A non-probability sample of 1172 participants were used (age: M = 21.99; DT = 2.49; 58.6% women and 41.4% men). The first parallel analysis study identified seven inter- pretable factors that explain 59.02% of the variance. The sec- ond confirmatory factor analysis study indicates an accept- able fit (GFI = 0.93; AGFI = 0.91; NFI = 0.90; RMR = 0.11). The reliability coefficients for Cronbach’s alpha and McDon- ald’s omega were both 0.87. The Ecuadorian version of the EMP shows good psychometric properties and is adapted to the cultural context of Ecuador.
