Abstract:

Arterial hypertension is a worldwide health problem that increases the risk of heart disease, encephalopathy, nephropathy and other diseases, and is one of the causes of early death. Currently, adherence to treatment and quality of life are a fundamental part of the patient’s adaptability to improve their health. In this research, a quantitative non-experimental prospective descriptive correlational study with a crosssectional design was developed, a survey of 8 questions of adherence to treatment known as morinsky green test and 55 of quality of life called CHAL was applied, sociodemographic variables were considered without recording personal identification data. The descriptive analysis was performed by means of frequencies, percentages, measures of central tendency, with tests such as Shapiro Wilk, Spearman’s Rho. The sample consisted of 172 patients of which 29% of patients were between 64 and 74 years of age followed by 53 to 63 years in 27%, 56% were female and 44% were male. The variables of adherence to treatment, mood, somatic manifestations have values below the significance threshold of 0. 05 (p=0.0001 W= 0.95) for adherence to treatment with a mean of 13 and a SD of 2.22; (p=0.0001; W= 0.89) for mood with a mean of 51 and a SD of 15.61; (p=0.0001; W=0.89) for the somatic manifestations with a SD of 15.61; (p=0.0001; W=0.89) for the somatic manifestations with a mean of 5.0001. 89) for somatic manifestations with a mean of 27 and an S.D. of 8.36 showing that these are nonparametric data, adherence to treatment is positively associated with mood (p.0007; rs=0.26). rs=0.26), adherence to treatment and somatic manifestations have a negative and weak relationship (p=0.002; rs=-0.23), we observed a strong statistically significant relationship (p=0.0001; rs=0.75) which means that the higher the mood, the lower the somatic manifestations. These data obtained will be of great help to improve the control of hypertensive patients in this canton and thus be able to lead to better adherence and therefore to an improvement in the quality of life. It would be of great help to carry out a protocol and education on the management of patients with hypertension to health professionals and provide medical talks to hypertensive patients on better control of the condition they suffer in order to improve adherence to treatment, proper control and improved quality of life.
