Distribution of the distribution multipurpose ornamental plant caltrop (Tribulus cistoides L.) on the campus of the Universidad Del Zulia

Abstract:

In order to evaluate the distribution of Tribulus cistoides (Caltrop), multipurpose ornamental plant, on the campus of the Universidad del Zulia (LUZ), from December 2010 to February 2011 (dry season), eleven simple random sampling were made in different cores of the six areas that make up the campus of LUZ. The results showed the presence of T. cistoides in five of the six cores. Most individuals were found in the cores of Sciences, Humanistic and Agriculture. The plant was found on vacant land (48%), natural walkways (19%), corridors (11%), parking (8%), roofs (6%), squares and planters (4%) and facilities designated for teaching (4 %). The individuals of T. cistoides grew naturally in the land of the campus without irrigation and in other places such as roofs, walkways, etc., where other species would not.
