Abstract:

Background: The use of ASA as prophylaxis against the development of preeclampsia in pregnant women at risk of developing it is a widespread practice throughout the world, despite the fact that its usefulness has been questioned. In the hospital Teodoro Maldonado Carbo is used at doses of 100 and 150 mg and currently its use has taken relevance to the increase in the incidence of cases. Objective: Determine the level of risk reduction of the use of Aspirin losses in the prophylaxis of preeclampsia in pregnant women with high obstetric risk of preeclampsia. Materials and Methods: A cohort study was carried out in which 97 pregnant women with a high risk of developing preeclampsia treated at the Obstetric High Risk Clinic of Hospital Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Guayaquil Ecuador were included. 34 patients chosen non-randomly indicated with prophylactic ASA at doses of 100 or 150mg from 12 weeks of gestation and 63 patients who did not receive it. The prevalence of preeclampsia by group was identified at the end of the study and the traditional ones were taken as reference. Results: The prevalence of preeclampsia was high (42.3%) The antecedent of obese was statistically associated with the development of preeclampsia (31.7% vs7.1%, P 0.002) The use of prophylactic ASA is associated with a decrease in the prevalence of preeclampsia. prevalence of developing preeclampsia 29.4% Vs 49.2% P =, = 47). The use of prophylactic ASA increases the risk of not developing preeclampsia (RR 1; 390; 95% CI 1, 003 -1,925) Conclusions: Prophylactic ASA administration slightly reduces the risk of developing preeclampsia in patients at high risk of suffering from it.
