Drawing with the gender brush the backdrop of domestic violence in an Ecuadorian indigenous community during the COVID 19 pandemic

Abstract:

During the first phases of the response to COVID 19, families were isolated in their homes and from one day to the next reabsorbed all the domestic and care work that during the last decades had been outsourcing through different types of services, both public and private. Crises, emergencies and times of unrest have been linked to an increase in interpersonal violence, including violence against women. In this time, the problems of insecurity and domestic violence have worsened. This article addresses the problem of domestic violence in an Ecuadorian indigenous community during the COVID 19 pandemic, from an exploratory perspective, with descriptive nuances, in order to place the focus of gender on the conditions, beliefs, perceptions and customs that intervene in the perpetuation of this type of violence in the subjects studied.
