Dynamic anatomy of a basin fringe: Late Proterozoic glacial Bakoye Group, western Mali, West Africa

Abstract:

Four distinct types of bounding surfaces are characterized at the inner fringe of a basin fill. Among these surfaces, the maximum flooding surfaces are used as reference lines for the definition of an elementary stratigraphic event. The stacking of elementary events and their overall organization allow the recognition of three sea level curves of different periodicity which may provide a new tool for a relative chronology of Proterozoic deposits. There is an abridged English version. -English summary
