EFFICACY OF MANUAL THERAPY COMPARED WITH USUAL GENERAL PRACTITIONER CARE FOR CHRONIC TENSION HEADACHE
Abstract:
Introduction: Patients with chronic tension-type headache report functional and emotional impairments and are at risk for medication abuse. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of manual therapy in comparison with the usual care of the general practitioner in patients with chronic tension headache. Methods: Patients were eligible for presentation to the general practice with chronic tension headache, randomized to manual therapy. Results: Thirty-one patients were asked who strongly preferred manual therapy intervention. Conclusions: This pragmatic trial will contribute to clinical decision-making by the general practitioner in patients with chronic tension headaches.
