EUTHANASIA IN OLDER ADULTS

Abstract:

The general objective of this article is to carry out a critical analysis of euthanasia in older adults and good dying, within the legal context. In order to fulfill this purpose, a documentary bibliographic review is carried out, in valid sources and from various places in the world such as the case of Spain, Colombia and Peru, in contrast to the Ecuadorian legislation on euthanasia with older adults and the good death. Being people over sixty-five years of age, a priority group in the Ecuadorian Constitution, they are subjects of law from various perspectives. In the development of the article, a study of older adults and their social, personal, family reality is carried out from the perspective of health and legislation. The work addresses the subject in seven sections that break down the theoretical and legislative elements. The methodology used is based on the analytical, synthetic and the systemic, qualitative approach, through the description of the study elements to reach the discussion and conclusions.
