EVALUATION OF PASTURE HONEY (Setaria sphacelata) BY FERTILIZATION EFFECT AND AMENDMENT CHEMISTRY, IN NORTHWESTERN PICHINCHA-ECUADOR

Abstract:

In order to assess pasture honey production by fertilizing of NPK and chemical amendment effect, important source for livestock in the sector of Northwestern Pichincha-Ecuador. It was carried out this research with 5 levels of N, P and K (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg ha-1), applied after an amendment with doses of 1.5 t ha-1 of lime and 0.5 t ha-1 of agricultural gypsum, under a design of complete randomized blocks, in arrangement of double diamond modified with three replications. Forage production evaluated variables were height of plant, green and dry matter. The application of NPK levels, determined that the treatments T3 (N100P80K80) and T10 (N100P160K80) with 75.3 and 74.8 t ha-1 of fodder, respectively reach the largest production. In production of dry mass or fiber, T3 and T4 (N150P80K80) were significantly better treatments with around 18.6 t ha-1. The studied soil was slightly acid pH 5.7 before liming, 6.44 after whitewashing pH and pH 5.75, at the end of the investigation. Hence the acidity was one of the main problems of this soil, worked the high content of iron between 335 to 433 ppm, although as result of the amendments fell to 226 ppm Fe. The amendment also increased the content of the bases of Ca, Mg and K. In terms of N, had an increasing trend on the floor during the four cuts reaching an average content of 68.7 ppm of N, which corresponds to a medium range to high.
