EVALUATION OF SERVICE INTEGRATION IN PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESSES

Abstract:

Introduction: In the last decade, many people with mental health problems still do not have access to good quality mental health care. Objective: To evaluate the perceived impact of a mental health care package (PASM) on the integration of elements of care. Methods: A controlled before-and-after study design was used in 20 health centers. Results: at baseline 10% of the intervention health facilities had basic support for the implementation of chronic disease care, by the end, 90% of the intervention group reported having reasonable support. Conclusions: Training workers to implement PASM interventions can lead to empowerment.
