Economy, social policy and twitter: Analysis of negative motions in four latin american presidential elections through the LIWC
Abstract:
The investigation of emotions has gained importance in the analyzes of political behavior or decision-making, leaving behind one the classic dichotomies of Political Science, such as that of reason / emotion. The present work, with a descriptive vision, uses the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count software to analyze the negative emotions of the citizens expressed in 25,959 tweets (369,769 words) in response to the messages of the candidates in four presidential campaigns in Latin America between 2015 and 2017 (Argentina, Peru, Ecuador and Chile). The results show, in an indiciary way, the existence of digital opinion designers, the different reaction depending on the theme of which is discussed, placing ideology and territory as a differentiating factor.
