Ecuador: país estratégico para el narcotráfico por sus factores geopolíticos

Abstract:

The study of the drugs traffic in Ecuador reveals the strategical position that assumes the country in this illicit activity, which in the continent has its radius of action in South America. The justification of the role assumed by Ecuador is exposed in the following pages, from the presentation of physical and economic factors, as well as from other existing incentives for the growth of the organizations dedicated to the drugs traffic. The investigation of this topic demands not to forget the context and the principal precedents of the drug traffic in Ecuador from the internal and external position that has characterized the different governmental periods previous and posterior to 2009. The analysis is sustained in the theoretical approaches that from the geopolitics contribute elements for a better comprehension of the subject of research. Adding the empirical studies to the mentioned theoretical base becomes evident that now a days we are witnesses of a network of networks which includes bands and cartels that manage one of the biggest business of the world. Its increase depends on a set of economic, political and social elements that reveal the lack of efficient and effective approach politics to confront the problem. All this elements in conjunction with the guarantee to earn money easily, are consolidating a field of unstoppable corruption. In this scenario, Ecuador is fulfilling a relevant role in relation to the transport, collection, refining, distribution and export of the alkaloid and wash of money. This dynamic endorses the constant permanency of the drugs in the country in spite of the strategies of approach.
