Educate in the digital context: The challenge of being Edutuber

Abstract:

This article seeks to identify those key components within the audiovisual performance of the best edutubers (teacher on YouTube) in Latin America. In this regard, qualitative methodology is applied, through research techniques, literature review, case study and content analysis. The inclusive criteria for the selection of the sample are: channels in Spanish, Latin America, 2017 and representatives of different areas of knowledge, with a total of five case studies. The variables to be analyzed are: number of followers, number of reproductions, number of updates and number of interactions. In conclusion, it is inferred that university teachers have the challenge of incorporating in their autonomous teaching-learning processes the skills, abilities and aptitudes transmitted by the edutuber on the web in order to adapt to the new profile of the student in the current historical time; that is, demonstrate paradigmatic flexibility and empathy in a digital context.
