Educommunicational proyects that inspire, entertain, and educate. "multimediando" towards a culture of peace

Abstract:

In the digital age, media can be used for educational purposes for the benefit of children, as long as it contributes to the construction of a positive childhood identity, understood as an age segment consisting of subjects of law, social actors with their own voice, and models of their peers. Therefore, the context and the problem to work are framed within the northern Ecuadorian border space, which has been significantly affected by the Colombian internal conflict and marked by neglect and vulnerability. In 2017, the transmedia project, "Multimediando," was created by UNESCO, IPANC, and Imán Transmedia. Through the use of accessible means to the target segment, the project seeks to teache children between 8 and 12 years old, from their own logic, to use mediation to solve problems peacefully and respectfully, thus helping to establish a culture of peace on the border. In this article, we study educommunication and educational technology projects from several countries and in which children have been empowered as protagonists through their own voices, and, in addition, the results of the specific case of Multimediando in Ecuador are analyzed.
