Afrontamiento al cáncer de mama en pacientes diagnosticadas.


Abstract:

Methods: An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted between july and november 2014. Case study was used in depth. The universe consisted of 38 patients diagnosed with breast cancer who attended the oncology consultation. Under a non-probabilistic sample design of subjects, 14 women diagnosed with breast carcinoma were selected. Results: Patients used coping styles focused on emotion and problem, showing a slight predominance in the latter. Personal resources for coping were characterized by positive beliefs of control, beliefs of optimism and religiosity, along with negative beliefs of external control and identity, as well as the perception of health and energy. Conclusions: There was a slight predominance of the use of coping styles focused on the problem with social support and planning strategies. Patients with emotion-focused coping styles used strategies of detachment and self-control.
