Efecto de la hemodiálisis sobre la composición corporal del paciente renal crónico.
Abstract:
The objective was to test the effect of hemodialysis on the body composition of chronic renal patients. The prevalence of malnutrition in patients with chronic kidney disease is increasingly high. The nutritional status of the chronic renal patients is directly related to the morbi-mortality. For the study, 44 patients were included: 19 women and 25 men, aged from 20 to 78 years, in who applied electric bioimpedance with a 4-electrode balance. The measurements were made before and after the hemodialysis treatment. To carry out the statistical analysis of the qualitative variables used frequencies, percentages, standard deviations, averages also minimum and maximum values. For the quantitative variables used statistical test to compare related means, applying statistical significance when p less than 0,05. It observed an increase in total fat mass and compartments of patients after hemodialysis treatment, while muscle mass, visceral fat and waist circumference which decrease after the treatment, taking into account that these alterations were statistically significant. Finally, it is recommended to conduct future studies with a larger population, for a longer time, and with more sophisticated equipment.
